The One Plane Golf Swing
The last few years, there has been a lot of hype among some golf instructors about the one plane golf swing. Jim Hardy is the inventor of one plane swing approach. Really, he simply teaches the difference between the one plane and two plane golf swing although he favors the one plane swing over the two plane swing.
If you ever watch the golf channel, you may have seen the DVDs advertised on the one plane swing. I purchased these DVDs at one point just to see if I was missing out on anything or could learn something new. Well, in my opinion, these DVDs just had a lot of hype around them and didn't work too well for most people I talked to who had experience with them.
A Little Information On What The One Plane Swing Actually Is:
Simply put, the one plane swing consists of the golf club swinging on a flatter, more laid off plane line. A steeper swing would tend to be a two plane swing. The idea behind the one plane swing is it's supposed to make your ball striking more consistent and have you rely less on timing.
I don't think it is necessary to get too much into wether you have a one or two plane swing. All that is important is that at the top of your backswing you are swinging over your right shoulder. This a critical point which will ensure you are on plane correctly.
The swing plane is more important in my opinion to be correct in the initial part of the backswing and at the impact area. Coming into the golf ball at impact above or below the correct swing plane line will significantly affect your shot.
