Improve Your Golf Swing Fundamentals
Golf Swing Proper Technique And Helpful Tips To Master Your Fundamentals
Knowing how to improve your golf swing fundamentals is really a big key that can help you perform your best as a golfer. When I give a lesson to someone, the first thing I always do is check their Golf Swing Setup. Getting the setup positions correct before you even swing is oftentimes half the battle to making big improvements in your swing.
Once the setup is correct, the next thing I focus on is the student's Golf Swing Path. The keys to look for in the swing path is making sure the Backswing starts and finishes correctly Swing Plane. After that, some Downswing Tips can help you as well.
One helpful tip as you approach the impact position is to make sure your hands lead ahead of the clubhead. If the clubhead is coming into the ball before your hands are, you're probably struggling with hitting the ball very solidly. If this is a problem for you, you may want to check out The Correct Golf Swing Release. Typically a good backswing will lead to a good impact position and good release or at least help to promote it. I don't recommend only trying to focus on your release without building first on the setup and backswing fundamentals.
Another golf swing fundamental is having a good weight shift in your swing. Typically your weight will start out 50/50 between your left and right foot in the setup position. In the backswing for the right handed golfer, you will shift your weight so that it goes into the inside part of your right foot. If you turn correctly, you should be able to almost lift up your left foot and balance on one leg at the top of the backswing.
Turning Correctly In The Golf Swing Is Important
In the backswing if you make a proper turn, your shoulders will turn 90 degrees and the hips will turn 45 degrees. A common mistake a lot of amateurs make is turning their hips and shoulders together, instead of letting the upper body turn first and keeping the lower body stable during the first part of the backswing.
Maintaining the turning elements or parts of your body correctly in the swing will keep you "in synch" and eliminate a whole host of problems that can be caused by not doing this correctly. Following these golf swing tips will help you improve your golf swing fundamentals and you'll be on your way to having more fun and lower scores in no time.
