How To Build And Maintain An Ideal Golf Swing
An ideal golf swing has certain fundamentals parts to it that make it consistent and repeatable. All the pros on tour have fundamentally sound golf swings, however their swing vary slightly in their tempo and type of swing.
Ideal Golf Swing Tips:
Tip #1: Create Leverage In Your Golf Swing
This is done by having a good wrist set or wrist hinge early in your backswing. If you set your wrists early in your swing, you create an angle that forms between your forearms and the club. As you swing the club, completing your backswing, and then starting your downswing, you will naturally maintain some of this angle you created by hinging your wrists.
At impact when striking the golf ball, your hands will be slightly ahead causing you to compress the golf ball. This will lead to more power and better golf shots.
Tip #2: Keep Your Swing Tempo Consistent Throughout Your Entire Swing
A common error many amatuer golfers make is rushing their golf swings. You may either rush your backswing, which usually leads to deceleration coming through the ball on the downswing. Or you may rush your swing from the top or at the start of your downswing. This will lead to hitting from "over the top" generally causing pulls and slices.
Keeping a smooth and constant tempo throughout your entire golf swing will elimiate these common problems and help you hit the ball straighter and more consistently. Be aware of your tempo and monitor this if you feel your swing getting off track. Many times just adjusting your tempo can cure your swing problems.
