Learn How To Have A Correct Your Golf Weight Shift And Gain More Distance And Accuracy
A good golf weight shift is a must for a consistent and repeatable golf swing. Without shifting your weight in the golf swing correctly, certain swing problems and mis-hits can result.
In your golf setup for a full swing, you want to have your weight 50/50 in each foot. When you make your golf backswing, your wieght should shift from the middle of your stance to the inside of your right foot. This allows you to wind up and create power. You are able to get behind the ball from this position and then will have some power which can come through the golf ball at impact when you hit it.
When you turn in the golf swing, you want to feel your upper body stay pretty centered. You don't want there to be any lateral movement with the uppoer body. You simply swing the club back and your shoulders turn while you weight shifts to the back foot. Shifting your weight too much the outside of your foot is incorrect. If your weight gets to the outside of the foot, it becomes more difficult to get back to the front foot when you hit the golf ball.
On the downswing and followthrough, your weight will shift to your left or front foot. You must be able to transfer the weight correctly in order to have power coming through the golf ball. From the top of your backswing, you should swing your arms down and let your body start to unwind. When you are hitting the golf ball at impact, your shoulders should be square or facing your target line just as they were in your setup position. At impact, the weight will have started to transfer more to the left side and the hips can be slightly open.
On the followthrough, your weight should be tranfered all the way to your front foot and you can come up onto you right toe. Your body should completely face your target at this point. If you've swung your golf club in proper sequence and correctly shifted your weight, the odds of hitting good golf shots are increased.
