Swing Fault: Golf Swing Too Steep
A golf swing too steep may lead to hitting errants shots. Typically pulls and slices can occur with a swing that is too steep or vertical. A steep backswing can lead to swinging from over the top in the downswing. This means the golf club swings too much above the correct swing plane line in the downswing. If you are taking big divots you may be too steep or vertical on your backswing.
Swing The Club Back On The Proper Plane
One way to combat a steep backswing is to feel like you are swinging the club more around your body. Feel like you are making more of a baseball swing. One drill you can do is hold the club straight out in front of you and make practice swings. Then simply lower the club down to the ball and try and make your normal swing. With practice, this drill will naturally help you to integrate a flatter swing that is more on the correct plane.
