A Correct Golf Swing Takeaway Will Lead To A Good Backswing

The golf swing takeaway is the first part of the backswing. You want to make sure your arms, hands, shoulders, and the club all start back together in a one-piece motion. A slight wrist hinge can be added to that also. It's important to start the swing correctly with this one piece motion with the upper body, arms, and club. There should be no lower body movement until halfway into the backswing.

A good takeaway in the backswing will start On The Correct Swing Plane. When the club gets to the point where it's first parallel to the ground in the backswing, the clubhead should cover up your hands, if you look in a mirror you can easily see how this should look. If the club comes too much inside or outside the plane line in the first part of the backswing, it'll be much more difficult to get the club back on plane and hit solid golf shots.

Get your takeaway down so your golf swing sequence will have a better chance at being correct. Without a proper takeaway, your swing will get out of sync and you'll have problems with consistency.

It's important to note in the takeaway there isn't any lower body movement. It's simply turning your shoulders and the swinging the club together and you're starting to rotate your upper body over your lower body. This will help you wind up correctly in the backswing and get your swing in sync correctly.

After the takeaway, the next step to get correct is your Golf Swing Shoulder Turn. A good takeaway will start you off on the correct golf swing path and promote proper golf swing sequence. Once you do these things correctly and build a fundamentally sound golf swing, you'll become unstoppable on the golf course and your friends might not want to play with you anymore because you'll be too good.
