Golf Swing Plane Drill

This is a helpful drill for swinging on plane correctly in your backswing:

Address a golf ball and simply take a swing but stop at the halfway point in your backswing. The goal here is to have your left elbow pointing directly at the golf ball. If your elbow points out in front of the ball, it means your swing is too flat or laid off. If your elbow points towards your feet, it means the club is too steep. So just try to make sure your elbow points at the golf ball use this drill as your checkpoint for starting your backswing on plane correctly.

Learning to swing on plane is easy once you have some drills you can use as a reference. The golf club needs to be in certain positions at certain parts of your golf swing. When you swing on plane correctly or close to it, you'll tend to hit the golf ball much straighter as well as more consistently.
