Golf Stance Tips For Your Golf Swing Setup
Golf Stance Tips For Your Full Swing Golf Shots
The golf stance should be shoulder width for all your full swing shots with your irons and fairway woods. With the driver, it's good to widen your stance slightly more than shoulder width apart. A golf stance which is too narrow can limit the golf swing arc that can be made in the backswing and the follow through. A narrow stance may also lead to poor balance in the golf swing.
Make sure to get your feet shoulder width apart so you have a nice stable base to coil around in your swing. Conversely, having a golf stance which is too wide may cause problems with your turn. It may be difficult to shift your weight properly in the golf swing with your feet too wide apart. A golfer whose stance is too wide may start to sway or move laterally in their golf swing to compensate for this wider stance.
At the top of yor backswing, the weight should shift to the inside part of the right foot for the right handed golfer. If your golf stance is too narrow, you may notice your weight is shifting to the outside part of your foot. This is incorrect and will contribute to poor balance in the golf swing.
Make sure to keep the weight on the balls or center of your feet. If your weight is too far back in your heels, your swing path may move too far inside on the takeaway and can lead to hitting the golf ball left. The club can get dragged too the left more quickly after impact with the weight on the heels. When a golfer has too much weight on their toes it will be harder to swing the golf club around the body properly and can cause a more vertical golf swing path.
