Get A Helpful Golf Slice Fix For Your Golf Swing
Are you looking for a golf slice fix? If you are suffering from the dreaded golf slice, have no fear! I'm here to help. Have you listened to other golfers try to tell you how to stop doing it and you can't seem to fix it? Maybe you've lowered the occurance of your slice to only happening every other shot (or some variation of that) or maybe it only happens with your driver. I'm going to give you a simple method of fixing a slice that should be able to straighten your ball flight out once and for all.
The general reason a golfer slices is because their swing path comes from out to in too much as they approach the golf ball on the downswing and through the impact position. A textbook swing path would consist of the golf club swinging back slightly inside and in a circular manner on the backswing. As you approach impact, the club will be square and then the club swing back through towards your target and then slightly around your body. The path of the club on the first part of the backswing should mirror the path of the club on the beginning of the followthrough. It's important to understand you need to swing the club around your body both of the way back and through.
When you are slicing, you're either too steep and unable to approach the golf ball from the correct inside to square path which is necessary to produce a straight golf shot. Another possible cause of a slice is having your club face open when you hit the ball. Coming into the golf ball at impact from an OUT to IN path produces a right to left side spin on the ball resulting a in a golf slice. The more severe of an out to in swing path you have, the more severe your slice probably is.
Make sure you have the proper grip and are holding the golf club in your fingers. Once you are certain your grip is not the problem, then make sure you are keeping your shoulders and upper body square at impact. When I say square I mean facing the golf ball as opposed to OPEN (facing your target). Opening up your upper body too early causes the golf club to swing across the swing path line and put the unwanted slice spin on it. An open position at impact is very weak. Your body is already turned out of the shot and now all you have to hit the ball is the power of your hands. This will lead to much inconsistency with your shots. Keep your shoulders square as you hit the golf ball at impact so everything comes together properly. This will give you more power and produce a straighter ball flight.
Also, try to make sure your swing path is shallow and wide. A narrow and steep swing path leads to a slice because there is no where for the club to go as it comes into impact. It gets stuck and the result is the ball goes to the right. Trying to feel more of a baseball swing is good because it will help you obtain the feeling of swinging your club more around your body as opposed to just vertically up and down.
