Get A Solid Golf Pre Shot Routine And Improve Your Golf Swing

A good pre shot routine will actually improve your golf swing. What a golf practice routine does is allow you to focus in on the shot you are about to hit. When you focus your mind properly, you'll always tend to be more successful. The pre shot routine allows you to get the feel of a good golf swing and then gives you a better chance of repeating that same swing.

Here Is A Video Of A Tour Player Going Through His Golf Pre Shot Routine And Hitting A Tee Shot:

You can see this golfer check his yardage, select his club, pick his target, and make his practice swings. Pay attention to some keys in his routine. Notice how he looks at the target a lot while he is picking his club and before he takes his practice swings. It's really important to focus on your target so you know where you intend to hit it. You want to pick out a specific spot where you want to hit your ball on your tee shots and your irons shots. Visualize your ball flight line as much as possible. It is very helpful to see your shots in your mind before you actually hit them.

In this video, notice how the golfer stands behind his golf ball. What he is doing is lining himself up with his target. He picks his target line and then walks into the golf ball. He takes one practice swing behind the ball and one practice swing right next to the golf ball which is very acceptable. Some professionals will take their practice swings only behind the ball, some right next to the ball. Either way is fine. Its good to take a couple of practice swings to loosen up before you hit the ball. More than two practice swings is probably too much because you may wear yourself out before your actual shot.

Remember, a good routine will contribute to more successful golf shots. Learn these basic and important keys and you'll improve your game and play better.
