Golf Clubface Angle Tips For Getting Your Swing In Sync
There are certain checkpoints in the golf swing where your golf clubface angle should be square. The most important point for having a square clubface is at the top of your backswing. In the picture below, notice how the angle of the golfer's clubface matches the angle of his left forearm. This is a perfect position of the clubface and it is square and ready to come through correctly in the downswing.
Keep The Clubface Angle Parallel To Your Left Forearm At The Top Of The Backswing For Greater Accuracy With Your Golf Shots.
When the clubface becomes closed or shut at the top of the golf swing, you will have a tendency to hook or push your golf shots. If the clubface hangs too far down or is open at the top, pulled shots and slices will often occur. It is possible to make compensations in the swing to offset an incorrect clubface angle. However, most of the time you want to do things correctly in the golf swing so you will be more consistent in the long run.
If you are trying to conscious work or shape the ball from either right to left or left to right, you can make adjustments with the angle of your clubface to assist with your shots. If you want to hit a draw you can feel the clubface close slightly at the top of the golf swing which means it will point more towards the sky. To hit more of a cut or fade, you would feel that their is more "cup" in your left wrist and the clubface would hang down slightly from the top of the swing.
