Golf Ball Flight Tips To Control Trajectory And Direction

Golf Ball Flight Basics For Controlling Your Trajectory

Learning to control your golf ball trajectory will help you gain control over your shots and hit it closer to where you want your golf ball to end up. It is good to know how to hit the ball low or high depending on the conditions you are playing in.

If you are playing in windy conditions, it's good to keep your ball flight lower and under the wind. Play the ball slightly farther back in your stance than normal and keep your left a little more on your left side. Go ahead and make a full backswing but don't completely follow through all the way. A three quarter follow through will help you keep the ball flight flight lower.

To hit the ball higher, simply do the opposite. Play the ball slight farther up in your stance. Allow your wrists to hinge or set a little bit quicker. Having a steeper, more vertical golf swing will allow you to hit the ball a bit higher.

Controlling Golf Ball Direction

If you want to hit a draw or right to left shot, play the ball a bit farther back in your stance and make your grip stronger. To strengthen your grip, you need to turn your hands more the right. Do not simply grip the club tighter, that is not what is meant by a stronger grip. If you want to hit a fade or left to right shot, play the ball a bit father up in your stance and weaken your grip by turning your hands more to the left when you set up to the golf ball. This will allow you to delay your release coming through the ball and put a touch of left to right sidespin on the golf ball.
