Fixing A Golf Slice Will Help You Get More Distance And Keep It In The Fairways

Fixing A Golf Slice In Three Easy Steps

In golf, sometimes we have to focus on the negative shots in order to be able to fix them. If you are suffering from a severe left to right shot pattern, here are some golf slice instruction tips for you. I've broken down fixing a slice into the three most important fixes you should know.

First of all, make sure you are lined up square to your target line. This is your first step you want to have correct. Misalignment to the left will pull your club from an outside path to the inside through the impact area causing the unwanted right to left spin, or slice spin, on your golf ball.

Secondly, you have to keep your shoulders square as you are coming into the golf ball at impact. A slice golf shot often will occur because you open your shoulers and upper body too early before you have hit the golf ball. Rushing the start of your backswing will lead to this opening up too early and a slice is easy to hit. Your slice will also get better by slowing down your transition and not rushing your downswing.

In order to stop slicing, you need to start feeling more of a draw shot swing path. A flatter more rounded swing will help you hit the ball straighter. Getting too steep with the backswing and the downswing will lead to a slice as well. At the top of your backswing your back is turned towards your target. When you begin your downswing, try to feel that your back stays facing your target a bit longer than you are used to. This will promote shallowing your swing plane arc on the downswing and give you a more correct swing path thus leading to straighter golf shots.
