Having a good setup is a big key for being able to swing more effectively. Make sure your swing mechanics and your fundamentals are solid. There is no actual or specific correct swing. All the pros on tour have slightly different golf swings. However, they do all have strong fundamentals in their swings and they all have certain common elements which make up a great swing. Make sure you are learning the correct elements to a good swing and incorporating these into your game and you will be on your way to better golf.

Key Components To Having A Consistent, Repeatable, And Correct Golf Swing

Here I am going to discuss more of a philosophical approach to a correct golf swing. In all my experience being around golf instructors, taking lessons myself, and giving thousands of golf lessons, I've seen a few common elements. Most independent instructors or well ranked teaching professionals tend to have a system or a method which is comprised of certain elements of the golf swing they focus on teaching to their students. This can be the reason why some people find more success with one instructor versus another instructor. It can often be the way the teacher communicates the golf swing instruction to their student that makes the most difference in the student's golf swing and game.

I believe there are missing links in golf instruction due to various problems. There is the problem which comes from having so many different sources of information and various golf tips given out here and there with no framework for how to properly intergrate them into your swing. Sometimes these tips can be taken out of context and golfers can even be passing them along to other golfers leaving even more room for mis-interpretation and possible error.

Broadly speaking, a correct golf swing is one that works for you. There are of course certain key elements that the pros and low handicap players all have in their swings. But no two golf swings are exactly the same. A player's golf swing will tend to fit their personality. This is often the case with tempo. Golfers who are type A or fast paced individuals in general can often have quicker paced golf swings. Golfers who are more laid back can play better with a more relaxed swing. Freddie Couples is an example of a laid back golfer who has a great golf swing tempo.
