Beginner Golf Swing Instruction: Tips For Learning Golf Easily
If you are a golf beginner, it is very important to get good beginner golf swing instruction. Teaching a beginner is different because you have to learn everything about the swing for the first time.
Here are some golf beginner free tips that should be helpful if you are learning to play for the first time:
Tip #1: Start of with a correct Golf Swing Setup Position. This includes your golf grip, alignment, and your posture when setting up to the golf ball. The key to success with your setup is to do it the same every time. Once you learn how to setup to the ball correctly, make sure you make the effort to do this exactly the same each time you are going to hit a golf ball.
Tip #2: On your Backswing you want to swing the club over your right shoulder. At impact, it is important to understand you are trying to hit down on the golf ball. The loft or angle of the clubface is what allows the ball to go up in the air. After impact, you will swing the club towards your target and then over your left shoulder as you complete your follow through.
Tip #3: Make a good weight shift in your swing. As you swing the club back in your backswing, you turn and left your weight shift to your back foot. This is how you build up power in your swing. On your downswing, you then transfer your weight to your left or front foot as you swing the club through impact and hit the golf ball. It is important to feel that you swing the club and then shift your weight in your backswing. Sometime shifting your weight before you swing the club up can cause you to get out of sync with your timing. A good weight shift will contribute to more power and good golf shots.
Tip #4: Keep your Golf Swing Tempo smooth and consistent. The beginner golf swing for most newcomers to the game is often not very smooth, lacks some rhythm, and generally doesn't produce very good results until they learn some basics about the golf swing. When I teach a beginner, I will explain the basics of the setup and swing to them and try to get them to understand the big picture of how the swing works.
More Beginner Golf Swing Instruction Tips
One important key point I tell beginners is the club should be "swung" and not picked up, lifted, or steered. It can be very intimidating for a beginner golfer to try to hit the golf ball. Anything new will seem foreign and golf is definitely something that will feel unusual if you are not used to doing it.
You want to be able to stay in balance during the swing but also have some power when hitting the ball. On the backswing, you'll wind up and turn which will create power so you can then swing through the ball with a decent amount of force.
When hitting the golf ball, you want to let the golf club do the work. What I mean by this is you don't want to try and help, lift, or scoop the ball into the air. Simple concentrate on striking down on the golf ball and the loft of the club will make it go up into the air.
With the irons, you'll want to make more of a downward hit when coming into the golf ball at the impact zone or area. To hit the driver and the woods well, you'll need more of a sweeping motion with the swing near the impact area. Also, with the driver and fairway woods, you want to widen your stance just a little bit more as this will be a longer swing so you need a more stable base to turn and coil around.
Soon with some correct tips you'll be moving from having a beginner golf swing to an intermediate swing where you can start to focus on hitting it longer and straight and become even more consistent.
