Understanding The Basics Of A Golf Swing
I see a lot of golfers struggle with their golf swing because they think too much about the details in the swing. As long as you get your fundamentals and basics with the swing down, you'll be well on your way to playing consistent golf.
Remember to focus on "swinging" the golf club. This can sound obvious, but there are so many golfers that try to steer, lift, or guide the club and swinging the golf club is exactly what they are not doing. This natural swinging motion is what you need and it is what will give you the best results.
How To Swing The Golf Club On The Right Swing Path
There are several things you can to do to improve the path of your golf swing. One very helpful tip I like to use is try to focus on swinging the club over your right shoulder in your backswing (for the right handed golfer, a lefty would do the opposite). Try to get everything to come through together at impact, almost mimicking your setup position that your had before you started to swing. Then on your follow through, try to swing the golf club over your left shoulder and turn and face your target.
Many golfers with bad golf swings simply do not apply this key of making a full swinging motion. Either their backswing is too short or they do not finish their follow through all the way. Swinging over the tip of your right and left shoulder will be a big key to keeping the golf club on the proper swing path throughout the entire swing.
